FilmFixer welcomes the news that Skillset is committed to training new assistant location managers. The public face of the film industry, locations departments manage a difficult role, co-ordinating the needs of filmmakers with those of the community:

Creative Skillset Trainee Finder for Film is now open for applications for locations trainees

Trainee Finder places trainees on UK based film productions and is open to those with a commitment and passion to working in various below the line departments.

Since its launch the scheme has helped people from a diverse range of backgrounds land their first training position on UK feature films including Kick Ass 2, The Double, Cinderella, The Man from U.N.C.L.E,  Les Miserables, Dom Hemingway, All You Need is Kill, Fast and Furious 6, The Muppets Most Wanted and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

Trainees not only gain first-hand experience on a film set, they also make the contacts that are so essential when competing for the next job.

We are accepting applications for the Locations department only. Please only apply if you have a demonstrable passion for all things locations. Applications for other departments will be deleted without being read. The deadline for applications is 22nd February 2014. Successful applicants will be invited to interview with a film industry professional at Pinewood Studios in the week commencing 3rd March 2014.

Trainees can find further information about the scheme’s eligibility criteria for film and apply at: Trainee Finder or can email Charlotteo@creativeskillset.org
