FilmApp, the online application, notification and payment system, has now been adopted by both Bristol and Cardiff, making it easier and quicker for filming to be organised in those two cities.  The system, which has been designed to help Local Authorities manage filming requests, has also just been adopted by Barking & Dagenham, Islington, Lambeth Croydon and Kingston  With twenty-five local authorities now using FilmApp, it has become the making it de-facto the industry standard for film licensing.

FilmApp is a simple to use online system which makes the whole application process much more efficient for both Local Authority and film maker.  The entire film application and permission process is managed within the FilmApp system ensuring that the shoot details are sent to the people who need to know, such as the police.

It retains the production details so applications can be made to multiple boroughs without the need to resend the same information.  For security, and ease of access, all filming details, and supporting documents are stored in the cloud. Film notices, consultations, invoices and payment requests are issued online.

Andy Pavord says, “There are clear advantages to both the film industry and local authorities with this innovative approach. Film officers can keep on top of every film application; production companies become familiar with the established process. It has won widespread respect in the industry, but we are not resting on our laurels – each year, new functionality is discussed and the system gets upgraded.”

FilmApp is a FilmFixer project. Capital Ambition (London’s Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership) through the London Cultural Improvement Programme have provided part funding for the project, helping boroughs to work together to provide an effective solution to filming in the capital.

Partners: The Corporation of London, RBKC, Southwark, Lewisham, Brent, Hackney, Haringey, Hammersmith and Fulham, Newham, Camden, Ealing, Harrow, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Bexley, Bromley, Islington, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Croydon, Kingston, and Cardiff are participating in the project.

London Councils’ Chair Mayor Jules Pipe said: “London’s boroughs are keen to do everything they can to support filming in our iconic city. FilmApp should help make things even easier for crews wanting to film here, and Capital Ambition is delighted to support it.”
