The British Museum, in the heart of Camden, is starring alongside Hollywood legends in the adventure comedy NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB

The British Museum plays host to Ben Stiller, Steve Coogan, Owen Wilson, Dan Stevens and Ricky Gervais among many others in the film that hits cinemas nationwide in December.

In celebration, twelve museums from Camden’s Museum Mile have come together in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox to offer a very special themed ‘Night at the Museum Mile’ trail, offering adventurers the chance to win a trip to Los Angeles by visiting each Camden site. The more museums you visit, the more chances you have of winning!

Visitors can gain a competition entry for each museum they visit, with a range of activities, workshops and film screenings taking place throughout the October half–term from Friday 17 October to Sunday 2 November.

Children will be given the chance to create their own Egyptian artefacts, go on treasure hunts, learn about animation and become art detectives. There will also be guided walks and showings of the original films, Night At The Museum and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. A map highlighting some of the Camden locations that appear in the third installment of the popular series will be available throughout half term at all of the museums and surrounding amenities, and can be downloaded from museum-mile.org.uk

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is the much-anticipated third film in the popular series. Get ready for the wildest and most adventure-filled Night At the Museum ever as Larry (Ben Stiller) leaves New York City for London and the British Museum, uniting favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever…

Councillor Abdul Hai, Cabinet Member for Customers, Communities and Culture, said: “It’s fantastic to see this temporary addition to Camden’s popular Museum Mile. For many, this will really help bring history to life and I hope it will encourage residents and visitors to delve deeper into the vibrant cultural offering of our borough.”

Camden’s Museum Mile has the largest concentration of museums and galleries in the UK and features many important historical objects and works of art including Van Gogh’s self-portrait, the Rosetta Stone, and the Magna Carta. Walking tours and downloadable podcasts guide visitors from King’s Cross to the River Thames, taking in some of London’s most extraordinary and diverse museum collections.

Most of the museums are free to enter but some charge a small admission fee. All events during half term are free but some require advance booking. Full details of events can be found though Museum Mile or Love Camden.
