Amandaland – the hotly anticipated Motherland spinoff – landed on BBC iPlayer this week. It’s already raking in audience acclaim and rave reviews, including high praise from The Guardian that it’s “a rare chance to laugh so hard you wee yourself”

In Episode 5, Amanda’s friend Anne plans a camping trip to the New Forest and the episode plays out almost entirely in the great outdoors. The cast & crew didn’t have to venture too far from the capital in reality though, as Lee Valley’s Almost Wild Campsite provided the perfect location for the episode.

The crew were on location for seven days in mid-October of last year (2024). Amanda’s iconic pastel yellow campervan played a large role in setting the scene, and the crew also dressed an open sided up hut as a camp shower. Keep your eyes peeled for it in a particularly memorable scene…!
