Last Thursday evening we went along to the Big Marshal Mixer, hosted by the creative industries union BECTU. The event took place at the BFI’s balcony bar – an excellent setting for a night of mingling – and we were proud to have a hand in it as a sponsor.
The evening was aimed at young and new entrants in the Locations Department. It provided an opportunity for them to network and to gain advice from seasoned industry professionals. Not only was the turnout brilliant, the drinks were flowing and the pizza was plentiful too!
Our Training & Development Manager Sue Russo was there to share wisdom with a number of the students and trainees. The FilmFixer cohort in attendance also included our latest recruits – Film Coordinators Katy, Adam and Toby along with our apprentice Delecia.
It was particularly wonderful to have the chance to catch up with trainees from Creative Sparkworks in Lambeth – an education and training charity that we are proud to partner with. We often match young people from Creative Sparkworks with opportunities out on set, so to spend the evening hearing about the skills they are gaining was a real joy.
Here’s a selection of snaps from the night…
We were so impressed by the ambition and passion of everyone in the room. We look forward to seeing how everyone’s careers pan out and to supporting the next BECTU event!
