Like all Londoners, Lara Croft needed somewhere to park

Despite all her tomb raiding in exotic far-flung corners, Lara Croft is after all a Londoner and the family business is based in Islington’s Finsbury Square near the City. Take a look at the trailer here.

FilmFixer manages the film office service for Islington Council. FilmFixer director Karen Everett says, “Although the filming for this huge production was on private property, the council was able to make it possible by providing adequate parking.

“It might sound boring, but actually, without unit parking location filming, particularly on this scale, is just not possible.

“We were able to arrange for up to 50 vehicles to park around Finsbury Square and then a further 150 in the Bloomsbury Square Car Park nearby in Camden, when needed. The filming we supported took place in May last year.

“The production was extremely grateful and made a donation to Arts for Estates, by way of thanks. The charity runs an arts engagement programme across Islington’s housing estates.”
