Star-studded thriller Unlocked opens tomorrow night, putting London at the heart of an international terror plot.

Londoners welcomed Noomi Rapace and Orlando Bloom as they capered about for the action-packed film in late 2014 and early 2015.

Rapace, who takes a rare female lead in the genre, was also joined by Michael Douglas, John Malkovich and Toni Collette. Take a look at the trailer here.

A real Sky News team lent an air of authenticity to the shoot in October 2014. Islington’s West Library was dressed as a police station, with a protest outside. The Sky News team brought along their real news cameras and audio equipment to film the staged protest.

In January 2015, the production was back in Islington, filming in Highbury Crescent where Rapace, as heroine Alice, jumped on to a flat roof to avoid being shot, then landed in a garden, before jumping over a fence.

Later, Rapace was filmed racing through an alley between Framfield Road and Whistler Street.

This was in fact the final scene to be filmed – which usually means the crew claps and cheers to celebrate the end of the shoot. But because it was late, out of respect for sleeping residents, the production made a specific commitment that the crew would withhold their celebration on this occasion.

The production also made a donation to the Highbury Roundhouse youth and community centre, to thank locals.

Southwark features, with Rapace training and running along the river at Durand’s Wharf.

At London Bridge station commuters pour off trains onto a busy platform.

The pedestrianised area of Shad Thames was used as well, and a donation made to the Shad Thames Residents Association.

In Camden, Rapace and Bloom were filmed on top of the old Central St Martin’s rooftop.

“The London locations play a key role in making the film feel very real and gritty. And we thank the crew for their consideration of residents at all times.”
