Southwark cosied around Toni and Drew’s intimate drama Miss You Already

Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore may play the leads in Miss You Already, but Southwark lights up the screen with starring locations.

Shot in autumn last year, the film premiers in the UK on Friday September 25th. It follows two women, best friends since they were girls, as one of them deals with a cancer diagnosis. Take a look at the trailer here.

FilmFixer director Andrew Pavord says he was pleased at how the filming was welcomed and how smoothly all went, despite the presence of two stars during an extensive shoot, within a tight-knit pocket of Southwark.

“The production expressed their gratitude to locals through a generous donation to the Lant & Bittern Tenants and Residents Association,” he says.

“And during the shoot the stars helped Breast Cancer Campaign host an afternoon tea at The Goldsmith Pub in Southwark.” It was here that Toni Collette unveiled her shaved head, for the role.

Southwark Forge on Lant Street was used extensively and BOST Eco house on Ayres Street plays the workplace for one of the characters.

In Pattison House gardens on Ayres Street, a space is cleared for a community garden; you’ll see the stars walking through Mint Street Park; the boutique Joy on Sumner Street features; GP Studio on Great Suffolk Street hosts dancing and celebrating; and some key scenes are filmed at the Lord Clyde pub on Clenham Street.

Andrew Pavord adds, “In a film exploring the intimacy of friends, this intimate corner of Southwark provides a fitting backdrop.”
